When a clinician specializes in a specific focus area it tends to mean that they have extensive training or experience in the subject. For myself, those specialties include trauma, eating disorders and substance abuse because in all of those areas I have extensive training and background.

EMDR is a psychotherapy processing model that helps people to heal from emotional distress. The model uses the brain’s information processing system to initiate a natural healing process. EMDR has been shown to have positive outcomes in over 30 outcome studies to date. EMDR attempts to stimulate the right and left brain connection in order to encourage processing of difficult experiences.

Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment is a model based on neuroscience research on trauma and structural dissociation theory. It has been used successfully to treat complex PTSD, Eating Disorders, Addictive Behaviors and self destructive impulses. The model focuses on the impact of the adverse experiences on the present functioning as opposed to diving into past traumas which can worsen the symptoms that the individual is struggling with.
